The recent publication of ISO 59040, the standard for Product Circularity Data Sheets (PCDS), is a major milestone for the circular economy — and we’re excited to share that Terraquota is now officially trained and accredited to issue PCDS.
With the support of TerraMatters, creators of the first dedicated PCDS software, we’ve already begun implementing this in real-world conditions with our first client project.
What is a PCDS?
A Product Circularity Data Sheet is a standardised, machine-readable document that provides clear, structured information about a product’s circularity performance — from recycled content and repairability to reuse potential and end-of-life value.
Unlike traditional sustainability declarations, the PCDS offers:
Verified, neutral data
A harmonised format across products and suppliers
Compatibility with upcoming digital product passport requirements
Why ISO 59040 matters to our clients?
Whether you're a component manufacturer, OEM, or sustainability leader, ISO 59040 helps you:
Respond effectively to growing data and compliance requirements
Enhance product design with circularity insights
Strengthen your ESG and procurement alignment across supply chains
Prepare for EU regulations and customer demands on transparency
Positioning ISO 59040 within the ISO 59000 family?

This graphic shows how ISO 59040 fits into the broader ISO 59000 family, alongside standards like ISO 59004 (principles) and ISO 59010 (implementation guidance). It illustrates the shift from abstract frameworks to concrete, data-driven tools — enabling transparency and interoperability across industries.
What Terraquota brings as new issuer of PCDS ?
We don’t just issue PCDS. We embed them in a larger strategy that connects circularity data with:
Eco-design and compliance
Carbon and material footprinting
Sustainability storytelling that holds up under scrutiny
Our goal? To make circularity measurable, actionable, and relevant to your teams.
We’re proud to be early adopters — and we’re just getting started.
